Wood wick width should match your jar diameter. For jars up to 65mm, use a small wick. For 65-80mm jars, use a medium. For 80mm+ jars, use a large or booster wick. We recommend testing with 2-3 sizes to find the optimal burn pool for your wax and fragrance combination.
Do wood wicks work with soy wax?
Yes. Wood wicks pair beautifully with soy wax, especially our M12 and A05 CocoSoy. The key is choosing the right wick width and ensuring your wax has a proper fragrance load (8-10%). Wood wicks in soy candles produce a clean burn with minimal soot.
Why do wood wicks crackle?
The crackling sound comes from small pockets of moisture and natural oils within the wood grain being heated by the flame. This is why wood wicks create that distinctive campfire-like ambiance. Harder woods tend to produce more pronounced crackling.
How do I trim wood wicks?
Trim wood wicks to 3-5mm above the wax surface before each burn. Use wick trimmers or nail clippers (not scissors). Break off the charred wood from the previous burn. A properly trimmed wood wick will light easily and burn evenly.
