White label and private label are often used interchangeably, but they describe different manufacturing models. White label is a broader umbrella: a manufacturer produces a ready formulation and resells it to many brands, who apply their own label. Private label is narrower: a manufacturer produces a specific formulation exclusively for one brand. In candle manufacturing, "white label" usually means you pick from an existing formulation library, while "private label" usually means the formulation is built or held for you. The practical differences — price, MOQ, lead time, exclusivity — follow from that distinction.
