MAZ has inspired us with his amazing style. We sat down with MAZ to get his insights and hear his creative story.
Tell us more about you…
I am an Emirati guy, born and raised in Abudhabi, i am an artist, and candles collector, i graduated with a totally different major than art, i got a bachelor in IT Network Security, but that didn’t stop me from being more passionate in art and creating creative ideas.
What sparked the idea to start a candle business?
I got this idea back in December 2020, i was addicted to buying all types of candles from any store or brand, so this type of candle brittles i created, was unique and sold worldwide, but couldn’t find any in the UAE. So I decided to do create them for family and friends, then i decided to share my creations with the world.
Love the branding! What makes your brand standout from the rest?
Thank you! The Branding took me almost 4 months to create, i wanted something unique, never seen before, something catchy and bubbly. I tested out the bags and boxes first and hid them between other candles in my candle shelfs, and the color stood out and i was so amused that everyone would love to have at least 1 colorful box in their living room or desk.
FRAGILE AROMAS is an interesting name. How’d you settle on that for your business?
Picking up the name was one of the hardest parts, but I took my time choosing it, and it popped out in my head when i gave my friend a piece of my candle wax and told him “hold it carefully it’s fragile!”
What’s the best part about creating your products and what are your two favorite candle making products/tools?
My best part about creating the products would be mixing the soy wax with the fragrance oils. It’s therapeutic and calming. My two favorite tools would be the scale and the thermometer because they remind me of science class in school.
What are some of the biggest challenges of opening a candle business?
The biggest challenge would be, delivering the idea of my products to the people, on how to use my products as in the wax brittles and the candle warmers.
Is instagram the most effective social media platform for you, and why?
Yes I think Instagram is the most effective social media platform, because it is easy to deliver the ideas, the posts and new feeds to the customers.
Knowing what you know now, is there anything you would have done differently when you were first starting out?
In my opinion I think I started smoothly and took my time creating things.
Do you have any other advice or tips for beginner or aspiring candle makers?
Take your time, don’t rush, ideas will pop in your mind in the wrong time but for a good purpose. Keep creating candles, and love what you are creating so people love it more.
What do you love the most about running your own candle business?
The most thing I love about running my own candle business is imagining what peoples homes or offices smell like after using my products.
